Anger TherapyAnger therapy also known as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy was developed by a psychiatrist - Aaron T. Beck M.D.He
realizes that negative
feelings that appeared on the patients will led
to a change of emotions and thereby changes the behavioral
pattern. After he did analysis on this, he realizes that
anger can be prevented to developing into behavioral problem if
appropriate
actions can be taken on time by helping those who have anger issues to
alter
their manner and way of thinking. It is more effective than treating
them after
the problems developed. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a relatively fast method used to treat a patient's anger. This anger therapy was aimed to encourage patients by changing the way they think. It teaches patients to develop a more positive mind rather than letting negative feelings taking control as these feelings are the source of anger and stress. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy uses anger management strategies like assertiveness training that teaches patient the appropriate method of asserting themselves in different situations through honest and direct expression of both positive and negative feelings; it also teaches patients relaxation techniques to properly relief themselves. However, not many people can accept themselves
that need therapy. Many people that suffer from anger-related
problems often reject the opinion to undergo proper anger therapy to heal
their anger
issues. Although these people are aware of the signs of how weak they
manage to
handle anger, but they would not admit
that there is any problems with it. Therefore, for people who willingly take up
anger therapy courses are said to have strong-willed
and determined to get help from the professionals in order
to make a change in their
life and
stop anger from ruining it. The very first step in the anger therapy
is when the person admits he needs
help from controlling his anger and
willing to take steps to overcome this problem. Then, he
needs to find a good therapist
which can put
them at ease. As the patients need to be comfortable to be able to share his feelings and
thoughts with the therapist, therefore it is important to have a good
relationship between the thereapist and the patients. A trusting relationship is required with the
therapist in order to allow the therapist to process with treatments of
the
patients' psychological problems. Other than that, a patient needs to be able to
tell out his thought, aspiration and negative feelings the patient have
towards
certain situations to his therapist. This whole relationship thing is
like safety
zone for the patients as he can freely to discuss about their
inhibition and
innermost fear where it can helps in the treatment progress. It requires a lot of courages for the patients to
take anger therapy. Therefore, love and support from the family is a
must. |
