The Most Effective Anger Management Activities

If you’ve got an anger problem, it can be quite challenging to deal with it and the repercussions that come along with it.

If you do not know how to control anger effectively and channel it into doing something more useful or doing something to control that anger, then you might be in for a rough time. There are various anger management activities that you could do to keep yourself calm.

Try going for a drive. If you are able to drive like a civil person, let your car go as far as you like and just be alone with your thoughts. Take deep breathes and focus on the road ahead of you. Once you’re calm, force yourself into being an optimist and think positive thoughts.

Moreover, use humor. Studies show that people who are frustrated can hold their anger away for a while and slap a smile on their faces when they hear a joke. "Silly humor" can help defuse rage in a number of ways. For one thing, it can help you get a more balanced perspective. 

When you get angry and call someone a name or refer to them in some imaginative phrase, stop and picture what that word would literally look like. If you can, draw a picture of what the actual thing might look like. This will take a lot of the edge off your fury; and humor can always be relied on to help unknot a tense situation and you would be able to laugh off your anger and not let that person get on your nerves.

If you can’t drive, indulge in other physical anger management activities. Most people find that going for a run, jog or even a long walk can help calm their rage. Try going to a neighboring park and let yourself do as many rounds as you can while focusing on your breathing and nothing else. This keeps your mind clear and lets you sweat out your frustration.

If you do kickboxing, Tae-Bo or even martial arts, thrive on that and let yourself be physically active through these activities. Also, if you hold a gym membership, hit the treadmills and workout your frustrations away. By the end of the day, you would feel much better and would be able to converse with others without feeling your blood boil.

In conclusion, there are many simple anger management activities you can thrive upon to stay calm and avoid from bursting out. So try them out the next time you feel your blood boil and calm down.
